Look all browsers are as secure as the user who is utilising them. If your software does not have the latest patch, then you're not secure. The thing I like about using Firefox is that you can lock it down very easily. Tools->Options (Edit-> Preferences in Linux) and you can disable java and java scripting as well as images from particular websites. This is somewhat harder to do in IE, however it can be done.
